Don’t Sun-Starve Babies

New parents are often bombarded with advice and products that everyone says their children need. Thankfully, extensive research and FDA approvals help weed out the floods of information. In the ‘30s,  the Sun Lamp was promoted as a must-have product in nurseries across the nation. They were warned against sun-starving their bundles of joy who needed a healthy tan.

The appalling part, besides the fact that such a contraption existed, was the suggestion that kids can sleep underneath it. There’s also the part about the lamp being patented, which tells us that the manufacturer fully believed in the product’s viability.
