Local Rivalry Turned Ugly
The Manchester Derby is a pretty big deal on the English football calendar these days. Especially in modern days, with Manchester City now also chasing titles and considered a big team. It can get pretty hot-tempered, too, with one incident in 2001, Manchester United captain Roy Keane ended the career of opponent Alf-Inge Haaland.
But in all fairness, the incident in the photo is just an accident. United goalkeeper David De Gea was punching the ball away while City captain Vincent Kompany challenged him. as a result, the two came together, only De Gea’s fists met Kompany’s face. It probably still hurt, though.
