When Fishing Gets Intense
The silver carp population in the Illinois River tends to get out of hand, and the residents found a fun way to bring down the number of fish. There’s an annual event called the Redneck Fishing Tournament, and people get to catch around 5-10K in one event.
The photo above captures how determined the competitors are to win. You could see that each player has a net to scoop the fish out of the water as fast as possible. In more recent times, all the money earned from the event gets donated to local charitable causes.
