But even then, some may not realize that some of the most iconic ones weren’t even in the script. Yes, brilliant actors sometimes create their own, and directors give them a pass because they’re genuinely that brilliant.
While some impromptu dialogue comes from the star’s intelligence and wit, others result from being given creative freedom. So besides writers, actors derve due credit too. Many of their spur-of-the-moment contributions are simply too legendary to forget. So enjoy our compilation of some of the very best.
Clueless
The ’90s coming-of-age movie “Clueless” is iconic, but the unforgettable lines make it even more so. It is best remembered for the sartorial trends that the characters, mainly Cher (Alicia Silverstone), donned. Other than this, it popularized a lot of terms, including “as if.”
Paul Rudd’s character, Josh, delivered one piece of dialogue that stuck with viewers: “I’m totally buggin’ myself.” Donald Faison, who portrayed Murray, revealed that their reaction to this improvised line was authentic because they didn’t see it coming. The latter actor admitted they couldn’t hold their laughter too long because of how the “Ant-Man” star said his line.
