A Rather Saucy Illustration
Gillette A. Elvgreen came under the spotlight in the late ’30s and ’40s for his pin-up posters, and this is amongst his lists of creations. He was lauded across the globe for his painted illustrations which mostly featured female figures depicted in everyday situations. The bone of contention in some of Elvgreen’s creations was their rather saucy nature.
Speaking of the pin-up subculture, in the contemporary age it’s responsible for spawning magazines and influencing songs like Beyonce’s “Why Don’t You Love Me” and Lana Del Ray’s “Pin-Up Galore. Burlesque star Dita Von Teese has often been described as a modern pin-up muse.
